POSITION: Major Gifts Officer
ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION:

The AAC is a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization supported by gifts and grants from individuals, corporations and foundations, income from restricted endowments, membership dues, and the sale of merchandise and publications.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Major Gifts Officer will oversee and coordinate all major gifts fundraising, mange planned giving, participate with the development team in coordinated direct mail appeals and consult with the corporate partners team on corporate giving.
S/he will be considered successful if s/he:
- Increases major gifts fundraising annually. Goal: 20%
- Leads and implements a comprehensive strategy for development at the AAC, including a planned giving program
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executive Leadership
- In coordination with Executive Director and Development and Marketing Committee of the Board, the Major Gifts Officer implements fundraising plans to meet the Club’s priorities
- Works directly with the Development Committee of the board to develop plans and budget for improving the development function at the AAC
- Works directly with the Executive Director to support him as the external face and voice for the organization in fundraising, planning, and board relations.
Supervision
- Works closely with data administrator, office manager, and marketing director to effect a coordinated development function
- Works closely with Museum and Library staff on all museum fundraising and events and foundation proposals
- Supervises office manager for the portion of her time devoted to major gifts fundraising
- Works closely with the marketing and events staff in the fundraising aspects of AAC events
Fundraising
- The Major Gifts Officer will play an active role identifying, cultivating and asking for major gifts
- Supports the Executive Director and key volunteers in major gifts solicitations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Major Gifts Officer reports to AAC Executive Director, Phil Powers, and works closely with the Development and Marketing and Executive Committees of the Board.

CANDIDATE COMPETENCIES/ QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek candidates with drive and ambition and who are interested in joining a dynamic development operation with much untapped potential. We expect extraordinary written and oral communications skill, several years of successful experience in fundraising and exemplary organizational skill. The ideal candidate will also have a thorough understanding and appreciation of climbing, to better relate to the community of current and prospective donors.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
