On January 11, 2007, the Cascade Section of the AAC hosted its annual dinner at the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville, Washington. Over 110 people attended and enjoyed an hour of cocktails before a steak and scallop buffet dinner. Following dinner, attendees were treated to several presentations, including:
• “The Road Ahead: New Initiatives to Grow and Strengthen the American Alpine Club,” by Steve Swenson, vice president of the AAC.
• “Arctic Adventures: Two New Routes in Greenland,” by Jessica Lundin and Erin Whorton, recipients of the McNeill-Nott Award. (Lundin and Whorton's climbs also are featured in the AAC's 2007 annual report.)
• "Qionglai Mountains: Two First Ascents in Sichuan, China," by Chad Kellogg, recipient of the American Alpine Club McNeill-Nott Award.
The evening concluded with an update on Cascade Section activities by section chairman Al Schumer, followed by door-prize raffles. Each attendee took home a complimentary copy of “Stone Crusade” by John Sherman, and by all accounts the dinner was a huge success.
