The AAC's Cascades section has announced a great line-up of new outings and events for the early-winer season:
• November 10: Ice climbing at Mt. Baker. November is a great time to practice ice climbing on the seracs of Baker's Coleman Glacier. This is a Saturday trip up the Heliotrope Ridge for members and their guests to climb with AAC vice president Steve Swenson, followed by dinner at the Copper River Inn. Top-ropes will be set up to allow everyone to try out the ice. To RSVP or get additional information, please contact Al Schumer.
• Early December: Avalanche Safety Gary Brill, one of the Northwest's leading avalanche instructors, has agreed to provide a special group discount to AAC Cascade members for his Level One avalanche class, consisting of three lectures and two field days. Dates are still being finalized, but the lectures will likely start at the end of November, with field trips on December 1st and 2nd. More details will be announced early October.
• January 11, 2008: Cascades Annual Dinner The Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville, Washington, will be the site of the first-ever annual Cascade Section dinner on Friday, January 11, 2008. This will be a buffet dinner in the Weatherman's Room, followed by several presentations and door raffles. Speaker and registration details will be announced in early October, but mark your calendars now.
