The AAC, working with the Mountain Fund, has a brand new loding option for its Members—two AAC Member Clubhouses in central Kathmandu, Nepal. The cost to members is just $15 per day and includes breakfast, dinner, wi-fi and airport pickup. If members wish to volunteer in Nepal, fees can be waived for placement, in lieu of a $100 or more donation to the volunteer project they are tasked with. 

There are two clubhouses with lots of exterior room for sorting gear, washing tents, and other pesky logistical tasks. Clubhouse #1 has five bedrooms (three or four beds to a room) and three bathrooms. It's right next door to the largest, most modern grocery store in Kathmandu and is a 10-minute walk to the U.S. Embassy. Clubhouse #2 is 15 minutes away on foot. It is a huge, 14-room house, with plenty of room for AAC members to work out last-minute logistics before heading to the mountains. There is a living room, dining room, outside patio and ample exterior space.  

Additional Services: If members need to speak with someone in Nepal to arrange permits, porters, or other logistical matters, Clubhouse or Mountain Fund staff can assist both in-country or before departure. Stateside staff in New Mexico are fluent in both English and Nepali and can Skype-conference for real time translation if needed to help with expedition plans, or assist with email translation. Once in Nepal, Clubhouse staff will assist with porters, VISA requirements, and more.
