The American Alpine Club (AAC) has a position open for a Manager of the Hueco Rock Ranch (HRR). The ranch is located less then 2 miles from Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site, and is approximately 20 miles from the city of El Paso, Texas. The Manager is employed on a seasonal basis full-time from approximately October 15 through April 15. Housing is provided on the property as a benefit of the position, and the Manager is required to live on the premises throughout the season. The Manager is expected to function in support of and at the direction of the AAC Facilities Director.
The Manager performs the following specific duties, in cooperation with the Assistant Manager and other staff:
Registration and Check-out of Guests: Monitor the on-line reservations system through the AAC website, register and confirm guest membership upon arrival, check guests out, collect and maintain records of guest fees, provide information to guests concerning the facilities and features of both the HRR and Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site, including regulations concerning climbing access, resource preservation and other pertinent matters as required by the AAC.
An ability to interact with guests and the public at all times in a friendly, courteous manner is indispensable.
Record Keeping: A variety of reports concerning the operation of the campground must be prepared and transmitted on a daily, monthly, or other periodic basis to the AAC office in Golden, Colorado. Accurate, complete, and daily record keeping is a critical function of the Manager. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
Maintenance and Housekeeping: Maintenance and repairs are regularly required of the plumbing and electrical systems as well as other HRR structures. Relevant mechanical skills are desirable. The HRR also requires daily housekeeping in the form of cleaning and upkeep of the House, Barn, Campsites, and the grounds.
Advertising and Social Media: Generating and maintaining advertising materials, as well as promoting the HRR and AAC in general on social media outlets.
Merchandise: Design and purchase HRR specific inventory, and maintaining an inventory of merchandise.
Campground Staff: Post job openings, interview and (with approval) hire Seasonal Campground staff, volunteers and interns.
Public relations: The Manager will regularly work with Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site, neighborhoods and will monitor and as needed respond to pertinent local and regional issues.
Event planning: At times events will need to planned and executed at the HRR; it is the Managers responsibility to orchestrate these.
Compensation: The Ranch Manager employed seasonally on a full-time basis. The salary is $2000 per month.
