The American Alpine Club (AAC) has 2 intern positions open for of the Grand Teton Climbers’ Ranch for the summer of 2014 season. The ranch is located within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park in Moose, Wyoming, approximately 20 miles from the town of Jackson. Interns are employed on a seasonal basis full-time from approximately June 1 through September 12. Housing is provided on the property as a benefit of the position, interns are required to live on the premises during the entire season. The salary for the 2014 season is $750 per month. Interns are expected to function in support of and at the direction of the Ranch Manager and Assistant Managers. Interns perform the following specific duties, in cooperation with the manager and other staff:
Registration and Check-out of Guests. This function includes monitoring the on-line reservations system through the website of the AAC, registering all guests upon arrival and checking guests out upon departure, collecting and maintaining a record of guest fees, providing information
to guests concerning the facilities and features of both the Climbers’ Ranch and Grand Teton National Park, including regulations concerning food storage, backcountry camping registration, human waste disposal, and other matters as required by the Park.
An ability to interact with guests and the public at all times in a friendly, courteous manner is indispensable.
Record-Keeping. A variety of reports concerning the operation of the ranch must be prepared on a daily, monthly, or other periodic basis to the Ranch Manager. Accurate, complete, and daily record-keeping is a critical function of Interns. Familiarity with the creation of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is required.
Maintenance and Housekeeping. The ranch occupies the site of the former Double Diamond Dude Ranch, which operated from 1924 to 1964. Maintenance and repairs are regularly required for the plumbing and electrical facilities as well as the structures. Relevant mechanical skills are desirable. The ranch also requires daily housekeeping maintenance in the form of cleaning the cabins, bathrooms, shower-house, cook shelter, kitchen, and other areas, including the grounds.
Ranch Staff. The staff of the Climbers’ Ranch consists of the manager, assistant manager, and two interns.

- Interns need to be at least 21 years of age.
- Although not vital a vehicle or some form of personal transportation is needed.
- Some flexibility on internship dates is possible.
- Medical and Climbing training may be provided.
- Other duties not listed in the Job Description may be required.
- Getting to spend a season living and working in the Teton’s.
