American Alpine Club Partners with Notogroup Executive Search to Hire Operations Director

AAC Awarded Notogroup’s 2014 “Search for Social Good” Pro Bono Search

Golden, CO — The American Alpine Club (AAC) is partnering with Notogroup Executive Search, a specialized boutique executive search firm with clients nationwide, to fill an executive-level opening. The AAC has been awarded the pro bono search as part of Notogroup’s annual “Search for Social Good” campaign.

After seven years with the AAC, Penn Burris will be moving on from the Operations Director position. Through Notogroup the Club expects to find an extraordinary candidate to fill the role. Burris will remain in his position through the transition.

“Penn Burris has been a key part of an exciting time at the American Alpine Club,” said Executive Director Phil Powers. “He was a key part of adding three properties—the Hueco Rock Ranch, the New River Gorge Campground, and the soon-to-open Gunks Campground—to our lodging portfolio and has kept the office operating smoothly through a period of substantial change: 70% growth in the last three years.”

“Each year, as part of our mission to be connected to the greater good, the team at Notogroup identifies a worthy nonprofit to assist in filling an executive-level opening on a pro bono basis,” said Roy Notowitz, Managing Director of Notogroup. “We are a longtime supporter of the outdoor industry and are honored to be working with the American Alpine Club to find an operational and financial leader to support the organization’s continued growth.”

“We are extremely pleased to be partnered with the Notogroup,” Powers said. “They bring rigor and experience to a search that is extremely important to our efforts to focus clearly on our mission to support our shared passion for climbing and respect for the places we climb.”
