    Snowbird Hut Update 8-31-2010

    On August 19th the materials for the next phase of hut construction were helicoptered into the  Snowbird site. Six loads of lumber, plywood, windows, insulation, and other supplies were successfully dropped on site by noon of that day.

  • Snowbird Hut Update, Alaska

    The Alaska Section of the AAC is celebrating the summer of 2010 by building a new hut on the edge of the Snowbird glacier. Located in the Hatcher Pass area, the original hut (at right) was purchased in 2005 from a private party. This hut has been an important haven for hikers, climbers and backcountry skiers in an area known for unpredictable weather. The original structure is now over 30 years old and ...

  • Iranian Exchange Delegation Announcement

    The American Alpine Club is pleased to announce the AAC members selected as delegates to visit and climb in Iran in the spring of 2011 as part of the AAC’s exchange with the Alpine Club of Iran.     Recently, we highlighted just one expedition in the UIAA's Global Youth Summit series, a trip to Georgia's Mt. Kazbek, on the AAC blog, Inclined.
